Intermittent fasting will absolutely get a person ripped. But there is more to it because it also depends on what you eat and whether you work out before, during or after the fast. A fast of at least 24 hours is even better. It is completely a bonus to do cardio or a weight work out during a fast.
After I had some fasting experience and my body had adapted to fasting I began to work out during my fasts. The benefits of weight loss during fasting are huge. Once my body adapted to ketosis and started burning fat I could feel my exercise hit bonus time with calorie burning.
For instance today at my 18th hour of a fast I did a home weight work and abdominal session and felt great. I was not weak during my workout and after finishing I drank water for a few hours. This allowed my body to benefit from my fast to continue to burn calories. Two days ago I got off of my normal diet and drank alcohol. I needed to compensate and eat healthy and fast.
This past fall I fasted 2 or 3 24 hour periods in a row while eating healthy and dropped 8 pounds. I kept it off until eventually the holidays came and I ate too many sweets.
The times when I eat extremely healthy I like to have a kale shake mixed with some other healthy ingredients. Other meals that I like include baking Brussels sprouts and broccoli in my toaster oven. I will usually season with avocado oil and some lemon pepper seasoning. Other times I like pre made salads from Costco and use a healthy dressing.
Before I break my fast with low carb food I will sometimes have a bone broth drink. It can be a shock to the system to break a fast with a heavy meal. It many times results in diarrhea because the gut is not ready to tackle carbs yet. It’s not fun to have to run to the bathroom right as you are enjoying a well deserved meal after a fast.
